Treatments: Dry Needling
Dry needling is an effective technique to treat those suffering from myofascial dysfunction (muscle pain/tension) by inserting a needle into a trigger point (focal area of thickening) within a muscle that can cause pain on a specific point on or along a muscle belly.
Dry needling has an analgesic effect when utilized correctly. The mechanical stimulation of the needle causes a local twitch response which has been shown to reduce concentration of pain substances in the chemical environment near a myofascial trigger point. It has also been shown to speed up the healing process after injury.
Dry needling is additionally effective in helping with jaw, neck and back pain. Furthermore it has been proven to reduce pain after knee and ankle injuries, hip tendonitis and tennis elbow.
