What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a technique utilized by Physiotherapists, Doctors and Chiropractors to treat conditions such as pain, muscular tension and spasm, muscular strains, nerve irritation and ligament strains as well as other acute and chronic conditions. Dry needling involves the use of acupuncture needles, however it is based on Western medical research and principles. Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine in which the purpose is to alter the flow of energy along the meridians for the treatment of diseases. The theory and philosophy between the two treatments are very different. Dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body.
